Step One: Search for Trademarks

Your name is what you want to protect.

Your name is central to you and your business. It represents you. It represents the quality that you and your products stand for.

That name, however, might be in use. This is the first step in the trademark application: to search for similar marks.

Searching for similar trademarks allows the law firm to prepare your trademark application better. The firm can find marks that sound and are spelled similarly to your mark. The firm can prepare your trademark application to try to not be similar to other marks that are registered.

Once the law firm performs a trademark search, the search results are analyzed. A letter with the results and the analysis by the law firm is then sent to you for your review.
